Three Sermons on Judas

First it was the “Da Vinci Code,” then it was the “Gospel of Judas,” and now it is the “Lost Tomb of Jesus.” We seem to live in a time when skeptics and doubters and outright opponents of the Christian faith are making front-page news. There are many ways of responding to the current wave of attacks, but above all else, the church must reaffirm its faith in the factual truth of the events surrounding the death and resurrection of Jesus.

The story of Judas in particular remains a mystery. Two thousand years have passed and we still debate his tragic story. Why did he betray the Son of God for thirty pieces of silver? What were his motives? How does his betrayal fit into God’s plan to bring salvation to the world? When all is said and done, he remains a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma.
