Nehemiah challenges families who are starting to falter and lose hope with these strong words in 4:14: “Don’t be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your brothers, your sons and your daughters, your wives and your homes.”

When you sit at home – eating meals together
When you walk along the road – walking or traveling together
When you lie down – tucking children into bed
When you get up – getting up in the morning
Parents must make their faith central to all of their life and especially in the home. Everything is about God, or should be. As parents we must love the Lord our God with all that we have and God’s commandments must first be “upon our hearts.” God’s commandments must become personal – “These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts.”
