When you are discouraged, Jesus is praying for you. When you feel like giving up, Jesus is praying for you. When you want to get even, Jesus is praying for you. The Lord of the universe is praying for you right now. Let that thought give strength to your heart today.
Father, I pray for my friends who don’t know Jesus. Grant them tender hearts to respond to the call of Your Spirit. Amen.

The world has no answer for a believer who continues to praise God in the darkest moments. If at midnight you can testify for the Lord, the world will listen to what you have to say.

In one of his sermons, Alexander Whyte said that if your sin has found you out, come clean, admit the truth, own up to what you have done, and then cry out, “O Lord, is your name Jesus? And do you save sinners from their sin?” Then tell the Lord you are the chief of sinners. In fact, Alexander Whyte advised his hearers to lie down on the floor and beg for mercy. You need not think it too much to do, he said, for “the Son of God did it for you on the floor of Gethsemane.” If you cry out Jesus, he will not turn you away.

The best Christians (if there is such a category!) are a bundle of contradictions. We love and we hate. We serve and we steal. We proclaim Christ and then we lie to our friends. We forgive and then we lose our temper 10 minutes later. This happens because the Spirit and the flesh are constantly at war with each other. No one is good enough to look down on anyone else because we all are in desperate need of God's grace, and without that grace none of us will ever make it to heaven.
In the Lord’s work, it is better to feel weak than to feel strong. At least in your weakness you know you need the Lord. The man who thinks he stands by his own power is heading for a shameful fall.

We never need grace more than when we have finally succeeded at reaching some long-sought goal. Unless we remember the Lord in our triumph, our blessings will soon be turned into curses.

Lord, give me strength to take the hard road when the easy road would lead me in the wrong direction. Amen.
Do not pray for success. Pray for faithfulness because faithfulness is the surest path to success.
