Good Words for Today

God delights to open big doors for people with little strength. That way he gets the glory when great things are done in his name.

“This too shall pass.” Remember that this applies equally to blessings and sorrows, laughter and tears, victories and defeats.

Pray first, then act. Pray first, then speak. It's amazing how well life works when we get the order right and how quickly things foul up when we don't. Lord, help us to remember you in all that we say and do today. Amen.

God did not send his Son to be one of many Saviors. Jesus is the only way to heaven.

When you are tempted to doubt your salvation, remember God’s faithfulness. Consider his promises. Contemplate the Cross. Gaze upon the dying form of the Son of God. When you doubt, preach the gospel to yourself all over again. Are you willing to believe what God has said? If so, then rest your weary soul on the Rock of Ages. If Jesus has saved you, he will take you all the way home to heaven.

It's always easier to tell someone else to repent.

When God starts with something small, he may eventually make it into something big. And by starting small, he gets the credit when big things result.

Lord Jesus, make us agents of forgiveness and missionaries of your grace. Amen.

Lord, help me to appreciate what I have while it is still mine to enjoy. Amen.

The revival we seek must begin in us.

Remember God's goodness.

This is a good day to: Repent deeply, Forgive quickly, Encourage freely.

Since Jesus is the only way to heaven, the kindest thing we can do is to let the world know.

May God give us pastors with some backbone who won’t back down. God deliver us from preachers who preach everything but the Word of God.

Why are you so worried today? God will do what needs to be done.

Lord, make us open to the wisdom of others even when it hurts. Amen.

Lord Jesus, when we are provoked today--as we surely will be!--may we be slow to anger and quick to forgive. Amen.

Generosity is measured not by what we give but by what we keep for ourselves.

Who needs a good word from you? Say it. Who needs your wisdom? Share it. Who needs your love? Give it.

Worship is not preparation for warfare; worship is warfare. Every time we worship, we re-enlist in the Lord’s army.
