We Partner With Other Ministries

We’re giving this away in every state prison in West Virginia.

7. We Partner With Other Ministries.

Back when we were just starting this ministry (in the spring of 2006), I wrote a brief statement of our Core Values that included these three principles:

Cooperation, Not Competition
Helping, Not Always Leading
Empowering Others to Serve the Lord

Here’s what that means to us. We share what we have with others. In the last ten years, starting during the days when the Book Depot was a ministry of Calvary Memorial Church in Oak Park and continuing to the present, we have given away over 400,000 copies of An Anchor for the Soul. In the process we have partnered with ministries such as Prison Fellowship, Good News Jail and Prison Ministries, Calvary Chapel Old Bridge (NJ), Campus Crusade for Christ Military Ministry, Pacific Garden Mission, Glory to Thee Missionary Boat, Campus Ambassadors, Open Air Evangelism, Word of Life, Good Shepherd Mission, and the list goes on and on and on.

Let me give a recent example. Two weeks ago we were approached by The Mailbox Club asking if we would provide copies of An Anchor for the Soul to every state prison in West Virginia. When the books are given to prisoners, they will contain a note from me along with a card encouraging them to sign up for a correspondence course from The Mailbox Club. I’m happy to report that the first books were shipped on Tuesday, and the rest went out Wednesday and Thursday. So at this moment 5888 copies of Anchor are on their way to every state prison in West Virginia. Plus we got a request from one of the ten regional jails in West Virginia for another 600 books. Today we received a request for 1500 copies for distribution in the jails of Hamilton County (Chattanooga), Tennessee.

We thank God for this amazing opportunity that came about because of a partnership with The Mailbox Club. We supply the books and they oversee the correspondence course. We’re praying that many inmates in West Virginia and in Chattanooga will come to know Jesus and then begin to grow through the correspondence course.

It goes back to our core values. We want to partner with other organizations to equip and encourage people to Keep Believing in Jesus. We’re thankful the doors are open to do this.
