Springtime at the Lodge

April 20, 2009

This afternoon I made a trip to the lodge where my books have been stored since October 2005. The lodge once housed a Christian conference center that flourished for a few years in the early 80s. When my brother Alan bought the property, it had been vacant for six or seven years. We lived in a cabin on the property for 20 months. Now that we’ve moved into town, I rarely have any reason to back to the lodge. But today I did because I needed to drop off some books. And since it was a beautiful spring day, I decided to take a few pictures.

A view of the road on my brother’s property.
Go left to get to the cabin, go right to get to the lodge.
A view of the lodge on the other side of the lake.
The southern end of the lake.
Back in the day hundreds of people gathered for Bible conferences at the lodge.
Two church pews and a wooden chair adorn the porch at the lodge.
Look closely and you can see the cabin where we lived for 20 months.
I think the lake is a little low right now.
The trees are starting to wake up.
The gravel road takes us to the paved road that leads back home.
