Shanghai in 35 Hours

February 15, 2008

We should land in Shanghai in 35 hours. At the moment we are at the Tampa airport preparing to fly home to Tupelo. We arrive at 8:30 PM, unpack, wash clothes, repack, adding the big bundle of thing we are carrying over for Josh and Leah, go to bed, get up at 2:30 AM, drive to Memphis, check in for our 6 AM flight to Chicago where we catch a midday flight from Chicago to Shanghai nonstop.

That pretty much describes the week we just finished at Word of Life Florida. I preached seven times from Jeremiah 29, Marlene spoke once to the women (they loved her!), I had a blast speaking to the Bible Institute students at their Valentine’s Day banquet last night, and we had lunches and suppers with many friends. Plus there were many conversations every day. Marlene and I came away feeling that this turned out to be a very good week of ministry as people responded deeply to the messages. I had the privilege of praying with many people, especially today after the final message. This sort of response doesn’t always happen at a Bible conference, but it did this week and we leave here very grateful to God for answering our prayers. And we are conscious of many people who are praying for us as we travel to China.

When we get to Shanghai Josh will meet us and help us get a motel room for the night before we fly on to Nanchang. I think we’ll be very glad by the time we get to that motel room on the other side of the world.
