Sermon Series: A Summer of PromiseThe Resurrection of Jesus Christ is the most epic event ever!
Text: John 20“When He had received the drink, Jesus said, ‘It is finished.’” This cry from the Cross is a shout of victory! Jesus fully paid the price for our sins, stamping “paid in full” across the ledger sheet of our lives. Since Jesus paid it all, we don’t have to—but we do need to receive what He has done by faith.
Text: John 19:30“Later, knowing that all was now completed, and so that the Scripture would be fulfilled, Jesus said, ‘I am thirsty.” Jesus completed everything that he was given to do, and fulfilled all that Scripture had prophesied He would do. Only then does He make a statement about His own intense suffering.
Text: John 19:28-29“When Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom He loved standing nearby, he said to his mother, ‘Dear woman, here is your son,’ and to the disciple, ‘Here is your mother.’” In the midst of His pain and recognizing that He is about to die for the sins of the entire world, Jesus fulfills the most basic responsibility and sacred obligation that any child ever had. Since Jesus honored His earthly parents, then so should we.
