Saved on Christmas Eve

December 9, 2009

Scot enclosed this drawing with his letter.

His life changed on Christmas Eve.

Scot is serving time in a Michigan prison. When fellow inmate gave him a copy of “An Anchor for the Soul,” he decided to see what the book was all about since his friend had read it and liked it. “After I started reading it, I couldn’t put it down.”

On Christmas Eve he developed a severe infection in his left leg.

I was about halfway through your book to where I remembered the part about Amazing Grace where you wrote that “If you want to get to heaven, you’ve got to get off your high horse and humble yourself before the Lord.»

He prayed all night in the shadow of a very high fever.

I know that Jesus reached out to me that night and touched me forehead. My fever went way down, thanks to God and His Son, I am now alive.

He thought he knew what faith was but says he had it all wrong.

My preconceived ideas about being a good Christian were way off. I had no idea what the words “justify” and “grace” meant. I suppose part of the reason was my unwillingness to the hear the truth about things.

December is a hard time for the year for inmates. But for one man behind bars life changed forever on Christmas Eve.

I am guilty of inventing my own salvation. Not anymore. I now accept that Jesus paid-in-full.

That night Scot was healed from the inside out.

Recently we joined in a partnership with the Mailbox Club of Valdosta, Georgia in a major outreach to inmates in several prisons and jails in Chattanooga, Tennessee.  You can read more about it in this article

Would you join us in praying that God will use this open door to reach many many more inmates like Scot with the Good News of Jesus during this Christmas season?
