Rambling

June 18, 2007

*After a hectic weekend, we are mostly moved in to our new home. But the process of moving is ongoing, at least for several more weeks. At this moment Marlene is out with Linda Hale, purchasing a bedroom set for the guest bedroom and a sofa sleeper for what will become my office.

*And since Nick is nearby in Birmingham, that means our whole family will be together for a couple of days later this week.

*My schedule is crazy, in part because I made most of it a year ago before I knew any of this was happening. Tomorrow I fly to Dalas to teach for the third year at the Global Proclamation Academy at Dallas Seminary. I teach on Wednesday and fly back on Thursday. On Saturday I leave for three weeks of conference ministry–Word of Life (New York), Camp Nathanael (KY) and Gull Lake (MI). Then we’re home for a few days, preparing for Mark and Vanessa’s wedding in Merced, California on July 28.

*That’s why we moved so fast on the house. We had to. We had a few days to find the house and sign the contract, and we had this small window to get it all done.

*This morning I signed us up for Comcast high-speed Internet, which won’t be installed until this Friday. That will make a huge difference in our Internet capabilities.

*I’m writing this update from Alan’s house where there are four dogs in the backyard–Alan’s two labs (Jake and Bo) plus Dudley plus another basset hound named Gary. They make quite a racket whenever anyone goes into the backyard. Those two hounds can really make some noise.

*Meanwhile we’re looking ahead to Mark and Vanessa’s wedding in California at the end of July. So we’re moving, our boys are coming and going, one is coming home from China to get married, one is going to China with his wife, I’m traveling and speaking, and we’re all staying busy. That’s our summer so far. By the way, it’s hot and sticky in Mississippi. I hope you are staying cool wherever you are.
