Praying Through the Alphabet

June 16, 2011

Have you ever tried to pray through the alphabet?

You do it by praying through a list of friends and loved ones, starting with the “A” names, then the “B” names, and on through the alphabet, taking a different letter each day. We got the idea from Peter Faulkner who used Facebook to keep us posted as he did that recently.

We started praying through the alphabet a little over a week ago, and right now we’re through the “L” names. This morning we’ll pray through the “M” names as we drive to Dallas. People seem to love the idea that someone is praying for them. Here’s a note we received a few days ago:

I received your lovely card that told me of your prayers for me. I can’t hardly express how much I appreciate that. I am nearly 90 and have several medical problems. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis, assorted aches and pains in my arms, neck and shoulders, use a walker, and am able to take some pain medication. Thankfully, the Lord did leave me with my mind (at least I think most of it!). Sorry my arthritic fingers do not allow me to write. I am still able to go to Church as a friend picks me up for that I love your Keep Believing Ministries letters and sermons. Be sure to keep me on your list. I always include you in my nightly prayers.

May the Lord Bless you and always be with you.

Your friend, Nancy

People say things like, “Would you mind just skipping straight to ’S’?” and “I’m waiting for ’M’ day!! There are lots of us.“ It has been a strong reminder about how much we need to pray for each other.

We need to pray and then we need to let others know, “I prayed for you today.”
