Pray for Don Gerig

April 21, 2009

Not long after we moved to Oak Park in 1989, I met Don Gerig, my immediate predecessor as pastor of Calvary Memorial Church.  He served with great distinction for ten years and led the church through the relocation process after the devastating fire in 1977. During all the years of my pastorate at Calvary and in the years since then, Don has been a friend and an encourager.

Now Don needs needs our prayers.

Recently he was diagnosed with a Stage 3 malignant brain tumor. Tomorrow the doctors will operate in order to remove as much as of the tumor as possible after which Don will begin chemotherapy.

Don has started a blog so his many friends can be updated about his condition. He writes with grace and courage about his condition both physically and spiritually.

I hope you will read the blog and then say a prayer for Don, his wife Caroline, their children and grandchildren, and for their extended family.
