Our Final Day at Camp Nathanael
July 4, 2007
This morning’s service had a strong patriotic flavor. Several hundred people gathered under the tabernacle as we sang “My Country “Tis of Thee” and “America the Beautiful.” We also recognized those who had served in the Armed Forces and prayed for those currently serving around the world. After the service the adults and children met at the flagpole for the raising of the American flag and the Pledge of the Allegiance led by a young man who just returned from service in the Navy. Then we celebrated in good fashion by having a massive outdoor meal featuring meat that the camp staff had smoked overnight. We ate our fill, counted our blessings, and then retired to our cabins for a holiday nap.
It’s been a good week at Camp Nathanael. Several times we have remarked on how peaceful it is to be in the mountains like this. And we’ve come away impressed with the ministry God has raised up here over the last 75 years.
