On the Road to Birmingham

May 23, 2007

This morning we are packing for the start of another long trip. In a few hours we’re leaving for Birmingham for Nick’s graduation this Saturday from Samford University. We’re going early because I’m speaking tonight at 6:30 PM at CrossPoint Church in Trussville, a suburb on the NE side of Birmingham. Last fall I had the privilege of meeting Ryan Whitley, the pastor at CrossPoint, and since then we’ve become good friends. Tonight’s service is called WOW–Worship on Wednesdays. We start with a meal at 5:30 PM, followed by the service at 6:30 PM.

We wrap up the cruise on June 8. Then on our way back home, Marlene will fly from Minneapolis to Great Falls, Montana and then will travel by car to Rudyard along the “High-Line” for her Aunt Caroline’s 90th birthday. I’ll be home in Tupelo late on June 8. Marlene returns on June 12. For her it’s Tupelo-Birmingham-Memphis-Alaska-Montana-Tupelo. And we close on our new home on June 15 and start moving in that day.

So this is the start of about three weeks that will find us in more or less perpetual motion. That’s why Marlene is out this morning doing some last-second errands before we leave for Birmingham. We have lists and more lists. Our philosophy is to go through the doors the Lord opens and to minister to as many people as we can. We are finding that there is no shortage of open doors and people who need to be encouraged from the Word of God. That’s the real heart of Keep Believing Ministries.
