Notes from a Quick Trip to Chicago

September 5, 2008

I am writing this note from Elmhurst, IL ( a suburb of Chicago), where tomorrow morning we will have a Keep Believing board meeting. This has been a whirlwind trip, even by our standards of almost-constant travel. We drove here yesterday, fighting rain from the remnants of Hurricane Gustav most of the way so that we ended up spending almost 12 hours on the road. Today I did a radio interview on WMBI-FM with Nancy Turner, then we went to Portillo’s for lunch (a true Chicago treat), then we worked on our presentation for the board meeting and ate dinner tonight with Dave and Lynette Hoy. Tomorrow the board meets from 9 AM-12 Noon, after which we will drive back to Tupelo. That’s a lot of driving in just three days, but we’re glad to do it, always glad to be in Chicago if only for a couple of days, and very glad to be with the rest of the Keep Believing board, whose names I am happy to list here:

Dave Hoy, Chairman
Brian Bill, Secretary
MaryAnn Spiegel, Treasurer
Cliff Raad
Skip Olson
Peter Faulkner (joining us by phone from Valdosta, GA)
Alan Pritchard (joining us by phone from Tupelo, MS)

Our webmaster Derek Taylor will also attend the meeting. In preparing our report, Marlene put together a timeline of the major events since the founding of this ministry in May 2006. We are amazed and grateful at all that God has done in less than 2 1/2 years. Tomorrow is a day to celebrate God’s goodness and to rededicate ourselves to the vision embodied in our name — Keep Believing Ministries.
