Next Stop: Thailand

September 23, 2007

5:19 AM Sunday. I am writing this note in the darkness of our kitchen because two of Nick’s friends are asleep in the living room a few feet away. I can tell that Gary and Dudley know we’re about to leave for a trip. Those basset hounds are smart dogs. They started following us around yesterday as we were packing, tracking our every move, somehow sensing that we’re about to leave. Marlene has packed our bags, I’ve printed off my sermon notes, answered my email, and put the passports on the dining room table. Last night we talked through our list, checked on our meds and put the itinerary on the refrigerator so Mark and Vanessa can find it. We’re carrying two changes of clothes in our carry-on bag.

It’s time to go to Thailand.

PS I have no idea when I will update the weblog. Maybe in Tokyo, more likely in Bangkok.
