Maine Bikers Blessed by Anchor

June 9, 2014

Dear Praying Friends,

A few days ago we asked you to pray for the “Blessing of the Bikes” at Small Point Baptist Church in Phippsburg, ME. Here’s a report on the event from Pastor Dan Coffin:

“God blessed us again!  We had a beautiful day of weather to share this outreach with.  By 7:30 am the sound of motorcycles could be heard riding south on our road.  By 8:00 am we had nearly 100 folks in line for the breakfast buffet.  We couldn’t keep count of bikes because folks came in and joined us while some came early but had to leave after the worship service but prior to the “Blessing of the Bikes” and the ride.

“All in all it was a charged event – folks asking how much coffee I had been drinking.  I was up at 4:30  and only had a half cup by then.  God fired up my weary body and the joy of seeing Bikers greeted and welcomed with open arms by our church was all it took.

“We honored Veterans from four branches and presented them each with a special pin and card, with special recognition for the oldest Vet of each branch by presenting them with a beautiful “challenge coin” from their branch of service. The gratitude for these veterans brought the roof and tears down.”

“Our oldest veteran overall was a man who is a member of SPBC and a WWII Army veteran.  He is struggling with cancer and failing quickly so this was special for him and his family.  The picture of the little guy with hat, vest, and Anchor book is Rory, his Great grandson, my helper in passing out the books.  He was so proud to wear my hat and vest while helping me pass out the books and NT’s.”

“Our ride went beautifully, safely, and we arrived on time at The Root Cellar for the block party there.  We did turn some heads as some 40 bikes rode into this impoverished neighborhood and filled their dirt parking lot.  It was awesome to see the bikers join in with our volunteers, the Root Cellar workers, and the staff – cooking, serving, clearing tables, visiting the kids, and showing the kids their bikes.  The event ended with a return ride home around 4:00 pm.

“As I passed out the books and Testaments I was privileged to pray individually with each biker and rider.  Praying for them to experience God’s great love and the blessing of safety on the highway this summer.  Tearful thanks from these dear souls. Why?  Because they felt and saw God’s love through God’s people.  Several responses to my message immediately following, and we pray that more will come through reading the Anchor book! I told the folk as I gave them the book that the author is a good friend and his ministries gives these books free of charge for events like this.  That blessed them with another reason to read it.”

We’re honored to be part of great events like this. Your prayers and your generosity make it possible for us to donate copies of An Anchor for the Soul to a wide variety of ministries.

Thank you for being part of the Keep Believing Prayer Team. Let us know how you are doing and how we can pray for you.

God bless you!

Ray and Marlene
