Kilimanjaro Update

Karanga Campsite (Nick and party’s location as of this morning)

The phone rang at two minutes after eight this morning. It was Nick calling on a satellite phone somewhere above 13,000 feet on the upper slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro. We only talked for a few seconds and then the connection ended. Our intrepid climbers are evidently doing well so far.

Marlene discovered that if you have Google Earth, you can not only find Mount Kilimanjaro, you can also see photographs of the various campsites as the group makes its way up the mountain.

Here are some of the locations: Londorosi Gate, Mti Mkubwa, Shira Camp, Moir Camp, Lava Tower, Karanga Camp, Barafu Camp, Crater Camp, and Uhuru Peak. We think they will reach the summit on Monday.
