“I’m Not Done With You Yet”

August 28, 2010

The picture shows the beginning of a handwritten letter from an inmate in Virginia. Here is the rest of his story:

I was put in jail with no hope left for my life. I had no hope in God. No hope in anything. I thought my life was over. I tried to kill myself. I didn’t have the will to live anymore. God intervened again. He spoke to me and said, “I’m not done with you yet.”

The next day your book found its way into my life. It helped me see that God can and will use me if I have faith in him, no matter what I’ve done he will forgive me. That day I repented my sins to God and made the choice to serve him. He filled my heart with peace and hope, something I haven’t had in a long time. Your book helped me get on the right track.

I just want to say thanks again for being able to write such a book that helped save my life.

In the last ten years we have given away over 400,000 copies of An Anchor for the Soul, most of them to prisoners just like the man who wrote this letter. In fact, we started Keep Believing Ministries in 2006 for the express purpose of getting the Anchor Book Depot established in Chicago. We focus on helping prison ministries, military ministries, crisis pregnancy centers, rescue missions, disaster relief organizations, and specialized evangelistic and missionary outreaches.

Here are some of the requests we have filled in the last few weeks:

Prison Fellowship National Headquarters
Kalamazoo (MI) Youth for Christ
Military Ministry, Troy, MI
Student outreach, University of Washington
Student Outreach, University of Connecticut
Arts Festival, Storrs-Mansfield, CT
Military ministry, Federal Way, WA
Crisis Pregnancy Center, Salem, OR

His Love Resources, Milo, MI
Pregnancy Care Center, Methuen, MA

We don’t ship overseas because the cost is prohibitive, but we will donate to organizations that have shipping already arranged.

We’re glad to donate copies of An Anchor for the Soul because we want to partner with front line ministries that are reaching people for Christ.

We have more copies in our Book Depot in Chicago. If you fit into one of the categories I mentioned and could use copies of An Anchor for the Soul, please let us know.

Your gifts make it possible for us to do this. Since 2000 we have given away over 400,000 copies because of the generosity of friends like you. We continue to do it so we can reach people like this inmate in Virginia who said that Anchor saved his life. We know it wasn’t the book; it was the Lord who used the book. Thanks for partnering with us in reaching multitudes for Christ through this little “gospel book.”
