I’m a Kindle Convert

September 30, 2010

The box from Amazon came in the middle of last week, but I told Marlene that I wanted to wait until my birthday on Sunday to open the gift. When finally the moment came, I opened the package and there it was–a brand-new Kindle DX along with a very nice carrying case.

You can see from the picture that I have on the screen chapter 3 of Don Carson’s fine new book The God Who Is There. Do you see how big the type is? I really need that size font in order to read comfortably. Here’s the good part. The Amazon Kindle store contains over 700,000 books you can purchase, and they’re adding more all the time. It only takes a few seconds to download a new book over the Internet.

I discovered that seven of my books are available for Kindle users, and you can even subscribe to this blog and have it delivered directly to your Kindle e-reader.

So far I have 12 books downloaded with room for 3500 more. I’m glad I’ve got it because now I’ll have plenty to read on the plane when we fly to Korea a week from tomorrow.

I started one book on Tuesday night and finished it early this morning. I feel like a kid in a candy store. If you don’t have a Kindle, you might want to check it out (I linked to the smaller Kindle because I think most people will want that, but you can easily find the DX on the same page). Marlene has a Nook that she loves as much as I love my Kindle.

Since I’ve become a Kindle convert, reading has become fun again.
