Check out the advice H. B. Charles, Jr. received from his father about preaching. It’s called If You Can Keep From Preaching, Do It!. Here’s a sample:

If preaching is something that you can get into and out of when you want to, it’s a sign that the Lord did not really call you. So if you can choose whether you are going to preach or not, I recommend that you don’t preach.
