How to “Join” KBM

October 11, 2012

Recently a new friend discovered us on the Internet. I’m still not sure exactly how he found us, but he did, and he liked what he saw on the KBM website. After two or three emails back and forth, he wrote me this nice note:

I am very proud I am part of your team and want to be more active as soon as I find out like membership, ETC. $$$ and I want to join.

I was happy to write him back with the good news that Keep Believing Ministries is a family of friends who meet at this website (and on Facebook and Twitter). We work together on projects like the Anchor Book Depot and the China broadcast, and we support this website with its 3 million words of biblical teaching. It has been accessed by 1.6 million people who have made 3.1 million visits and 11 million pageviews since March 2008. Visitors come to us from 225 countries/provinces around the world.

Our basic principle is this. We give away what God has given us. Everything on our website is free except for the books that must be ordered from the publishers. But the rest is free, all of it, including the sermons, the blog entries, the FAQs, the podcasts, the ebooks, the videos, the social media, and the Chinese sermons and radio broadcasts. This even includes the 600,000 copies of An Anchor for the Soul that we have given away to prison ministries, military ministries, crisis pregnancy centers, outlaw biker outreach groups, and other evangelism ministries.

You don’t really “join” KBM. You become a friend and then a family member and part of the team. Lots of people visit us, many people use our resources, some folks ask for copies of Anchor, and others have questions or comments. Sometimes people write to disagree with us.

We have 10,400 people on the sermon email list, I have 5000 Facebook friends (which I think is the maximum I can have), we have 1928 people who “like” the KBM Facebook page and 1428 who get the email prayer updates, and we have 914 names on our mailing list.

The number of people who give on a regular basis is a lot smaller than our mailing list. Most people still give through the mail, but a growing number use our Donate page to make their gifts. A look at the numbers reveals what you would expect. We have a large group that uses our resources, a much smaller group on the prayer team, and a smaller group that makes a financial investment in this ministry.

All of that to say, if you want to “join” KBM, consider yourself a part of the family. You are welcome to find your own level of involvement. We hope you’ll pray for us no matter what else you do.

We like to say that our name is our mission. We want to equip and encourage people to keep believing in Jesus. If you like that mission, you’re already part of our family.
