Hillbilly Homewrecker

Check out the Hillbilly Homewrecker

I would like to dedicate this entry to my fellow hot dog connoisseur Steve Boisse. A few years ago Steve and I and Ted King did a bike survey of two famous Chicago hot dog stands—Parky’s in Forest Park and Gene N Jude’s in River Grove. Not long ago Steve sent me a notice that Chicago magazine had give Gene N Jude’s a favorable review, and he offered to buy me a Chicago-style dog the next time we’re in town. I of course wrote him back and accepted his kind invitation. And then I read about the Hillbilly Homewrecker, the most enormous hot dog I’ve ever seen, an actual creation from a diner in West Virginia. It’s worth watching the YouTube video to fully appreciate this gastronomic work of art.

If that isn’t enough, check out Five Hot Dogs That Will Kill You, that is, if the Hillbilly Homewrecker hasn’t already done the trick.
