Halfway

A shot of the crowd at Word of Life Florida last week.

As of this moment we’re 11 days into our 21 day ministry trip. That means we’ve reached the halfway point of our longest trip of the year. So far I’ve preached

6 times in Florida
8 times in Canada with

4 more to go in Canada and
14 more in New York.

Marlene spoke to a very appreciate audience at the ladies meeting yesterday here at Elim Lodge.

We continue to be very grateful for the prayers of our friends. Things have gone very well. Last week I taught on “How God Raises Up World-Changers” from the early years of David’s life. This week I’m doing my series on the life of Peter called “Beyond Denial.” Last week I spoke to 400-500 very enthusiastic teens. This week I’ve got a lot more gray hair in the audience. On the other hand, I know more of the music this week.

Traveling from Florida to Canada was a bit of a climate shock, made worse because they tell me that this summer has been colder than usual in Ontario. As the week has gone on, we’ve had very nice weather. At Elim Lodge they put the speaker in a cabin on the shore of Pigeon Lake. And since we don’t have a TV and very spotty Internet, we’ve both spent time on the porch reading, something we don’t often get to do together. Marlene has already finished two books, the most recent one being Tea Time for the Traditionally Built, the latest installment in “The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency” series by Alexander McCall Smith. I wrapped up Jeff Shaara’s fine novel about D-Day called The Steel Wave.

Tonight I spoke at the Brethren assembly in Peterborough. We sang a few songs, the men prayed, and I gave the message. After that our host took us to Dairy Queen where we met several folks from the assembly. As they say, a good time was had by all.
