Grand Ledge Baptist Church

October 28, 2007

Tonight I preached my final message at Grand Ledge Baptist Church. This was the closing weekend of a month-long emphasis on missions. This evening we began with a live video interview via the Internet with a missionary couple serving in Bolivia. This is an example of how technology has made the world smaller. Not many years ago the best we could hope for was a tape recording mailed from the field along with a few slides. But tonight we saw the young couple (and their two children) live from somewhere in Bolivia talking about their first few months on the field. You came away with a very strong connection to what they are going through and how we could effectively pray for them.

There is a warm family feeling at the church, and you sense that they are not resting on the past (the church is 150 years old) but are moving forward for Christ. At one point Andrew teared up as he spoke of his dream that when people in Grand Ledge think of the church, they will think about Jesus first. It is a worthy goal for any church, and you sense that they will soon be making waves for the Kingdom here in the heart of Michigan.
