Good Words for Today

All compromise starts on the inside. Guard your heart!

Three prayers when you are criticized: "Lord, is it true?" "What are you saying to me through this?" "How can I respond with the grace of Christ?"

"Then he broke the loaves and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds” (Matthew 14:12). Jesus works the miracle. The disciples distribute the food.  Don’t get that backwards. We don’t work miracles. Jesus does.

“How many loaves do you have? Go and see” (Mark 6:38). You never have enough. That's the whole point. First, the disciples must realize they don't have enough. Take the little you have and give it to Jesus. Then step back and watch him work.

You don’t need to know the big picture. Just take the next step. Let God take care of everything else.

Quick fixes don’t work in the spiritual life. You can’t rush the river of God’s purpose. Give God time to do his work in you. If you want to grow, so slow.

 O Lord, help us to serve you gladly today, knowing that nothing done in Jesus’ name is ever done in vain. Amen. 

We cannot trace God’s hand in every circumstance because God paints on a canvas much larger than our tiny vision.

Plan for today: Keep my promises. Refuse to complain. Remember my blessings. I was going to make that list longer, but that's a good place to start. If we do those things, it will be good day!

There’s never been a better time to be a Christian. There's never been a better time to live for Christ. There’s never been a better time to tell someone else.

The key to success in life is well you adapt to Plan B.

The best time to plant a tree was 30 years ago. The next best time is today. Let's go plant some trees!

When God says no, he does it because he loves us. What God forbids is for our own good just as much as what he grants.

Our opponents can attack us and take everything except our joy.

If you can’t be happy with what you already have, why should God trust you with anything else?

God’s commands are not grievous. What God demands, he supplies. He never asks from us what he does not also supply for us.

"Give us this day our daily bread." Like the manna in the wilderness, God gives us what we need when we need it.  You will have what you need for today. When tomorrow comes, you'll have enough for tomorrow. Fresh bread is on the way, and the supply chain never breaks, and the shelves are never bare.

God will never bring us to the place where we no longer need him.

If you plan to serve God "someday," why not start today?

Anything that drives us to our knees is good for the soul.

Don't be cranky. The world is messed up. If you can't make it better, don't make it worse.

Did you wake up worried? God is large and in charge. He can handle the details that scare you to death.

Lord, help me to learn from my mistakes so that I won’t have to make them all over again. Amen.

When God forgives, he removes our sins, he lifts them up, he takes them away, and he puts them so far away from us that we could never find them if we searched for them for a thousand years. They are gone forever.

Thank you, Lord, for taking charge of the details of my life. Amen.

People are difficult--love them anyway. Remember, someone thinks you're difficult too.

The "Greater" Golden Rule: Do unto others as God has done unto you.

Lord Jesus, teach me the strength of gentleness and the wisdom of kindness. Amen.

Pray boldly--God throws open the storehouse of heaven and says, "Ask, and it shall be given to you."

Lord God, open my eyes to see how much you have given me and how rich I already am. Amen.

Every day Jesus tugs on our hearts, pulling us up toward heaven so that when we finally get there we won’t feel like strangers. One day soon the Lord will give us one final tug, and we’ll end up in heaven forever.
