Good Words for Today

Lord, help me to learn from my mistakes so that I won’t have to make them all over again. Amen.
“What you do for yourself dies with you. What you do for others lasts for eternity.” Lin Dunn
When God forgives, he removes our sins, he lifts them up, he takes them away, and he puts them so far away from us that we could never find them if we searched for them for a thousand years. They are gone forever.
Thank you, Lord, for taking charge of the details of my life. Amen.
People are difficult--love them anyway. Remember, someone thinks you're difficult too.
The "Greater" Golden Rule: Do unto others as God has done unto you.
Lord Jesus, teach me the strength of gentleness and the wisdom of kindness. Amen.
"Jesus, Jesus, Jesus! Sweetest Name I know, Fills my every longing, Keeps me singing as I go"
This is a good day to . . . Ask for grace, Walk in grace, and Show grace to others.
Pray boldly--God throws open the storehouse of heaven and says, "Ask, and it shall be given to you."
Lord God, open my eyes to see how much you have given me and how rich I already am. Amen.
"If there ever was an hour when men should consider their personal relationship to Jesus Christ, it is today. God is saying to this generation, 'Prepare for the coming of the Lord.'" —John F. Walvoord
Every day Jesus tugs on our hearts, pulling us up toward heaven so that when we finally get there we won’t feel like strangers. One day soon the Lord will give us one final tug, and we’ll end up in heaven forever.
My Lord, when I am tempted to envy others, remind me that the only thing that matters is what you think of me. Amen.
Lord God, forgive me for giving up too soon. Create in me new determination to keep on moving in the right direction. Amen.
“Life is short, but there is always time for courtesy.” Ralph Waldo Emerson
Lord, when I am tempted to boast about my plans, please remind me that you can run the universe without any help from me. Amen.
If you believe in the sovereignty of God, then it must be true that you are where you are because God wants you there, because if God didn’t want you to be there, you would be somewhere else. But since you are where you are right now, that must be because you are there by God’s design. When he wants you to be somewhere else, that’s where you’ll be. If you believe that, then you can do your work each day, even in a very bad situation, as unto the Lord, with all your might, for his glory.
The question is not, "What will you do for the Lord tomorrow?" The real question is, "Will you live for Christ today?"
Live as if Jesus may come today. One day you'll be right.
“One good deed is worth more than a thousand brilliant theories." Charles Spurgeon
"The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me" (Psalm 138:8). He has not brought us this far to leave us now. He has not promised more than he can do. He has not abandoned his plans for us.
Peter denied. Judas betrayed. Caiaphas accused. Herod mocked. Pilate bargained. Barabbas freed. Soldiers scourged. Jesus fell. Simon carried. Soldiers crucified. Crowd jeered. Thief believed. Darkness fell. Jesus dies. Curtain torn. Soldiers pierce. Body removed. Jesus buried. Stone rolled. Darkness falls. Tomb sealed. Hope gone. Sunday came.
“My sin—oh, the bliss of this glorious thought! My sin, not in part but the whole, Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more, Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!”
"What thou, my Lord, hast suffered was all for sinners’ gain; Mine, mine was the transgression, but thine the deadly pain. Lo, here I fall, my Savior! ’Tis I deserve thy place; Look on me with thy favor, and grant to me thy grace."
"Content to let the world go by, To know no gain nor loss, My sinful self my only shame, My glory all the cross." From "Beneath the Cross of Jesus," Elizabeth Clephane, 1868
Lord Jesus, teach me to trust you when I am tempted to lash out. Where there is hatred, let me sow love. Amen.
My Lord, deliver me from even the tiniest bit of religious pretense. May my life bring forth fruit that is pleasing in your eyes. Amen.
The God we serve has a heart as big as the entire world. He’s not a Jewish God or an American God. He’s a God for the whole human race. It doesn’t matter what language you speak, or what country you come from, or how you dress or wear your hair. If you know Jesus Christ, you can look up to the heavens and say, “You, O Lord, are my God, too.”
All too often we conclude that something can’t be done so we don’t bother trying to do it. If Moses had taken that attitude, the Jews would still be in Egypt. If Joshua had felt that way, the walls of Jericho would still be standing. If David had adopted that opinion, Goliath would still be terrorizing the Israelites. You never know in advance what God may do so don’t rule out the possibility of a miracle coming your way.
God freely forgave us while we were his enemies. Can we not do for others what he has done for us?
"Heart of my own heart, whatever befall, Still be my vision, O Ruler of all."
If we are going to follow Jesus, we must forgive. We have no other choice. We must forgive as God has forgiven us—freely, completely, graciously, totally. This is the true Golden Rule: Do for others as God has done to you.

If knew myself better, I would be more amazed that Jesus saved me. It's all grace all the time. Smile and be glad that God included you.
