Good Words for Today
Lord Jesus, help me to do what needs to be done today and to do it with gusto. Amen.
Faith means taking the next step and trusting God to bring us out in the right place. Sometimes things don’t work out as we planned, but that’s okay. Our part is to take the first step. God can take care of the rest.
Help me to be busy doing the work You have given me to do, O Lord. Save me from the folly of thinking that tomorrow is somehow more important than today. Amen.
Today’s disappointment prepares you for tomorrow’s victory. Tomorrow’s victory will be sweeter because you had to fight harder to win it.
Does God have a blueprint for your life? Yes, but there’s only one copy, and it’s locked up on the second floor of the administration building in heaven, and I don’t know any way you can get a copy. We aren’t given advance notice of what tomorrow will bring. That’s true for all of us–rich and poor, young and old, new Christian or mature believer. Trusting God means taking the next step and leaving the results in his hands.
Lord Jesus, may I have Your perfect balance of grace and truth today. Amen.

Waiting time isn't wasted time if you are waiting on the Lord.
Some things make no sense now. They will still make no sense on the day we die. But God will make sense of them later. God has no loose ends and no unfinished business.
"Don't waste your breath on fools, for they will despise the wisest advice" (Proverbs 23:9). Sometimes it's better to say nothing at all. Just let it pass, or walk away. Arguing with a fool is like wrestling with a pig. You get dirty and the pig loves it.
Heavenly Father, in hard times I often do not know how to pray. May my trials lead me back to Your throne where I can find grace to help in the nick of time. Amen.
Be encouraged, child of God. No matter how difficult your journey has been, God has promised an eternally happy ending for his children. If you know Jesus, the best is yet to come!
Father, I pray for a teachable spirit so that I might learn something from the difficult people in my life. Amen.
The church is a collection of broken people who have discovered God’s grace and who tell other broken people where they can discover that grace. The world takes broken things and throws them away. God puts them back together again.
Ephesians 5:19 tells us to “speak to one another” in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. As we do that, we are singing and making melody in our hearts to the Lord. Parents, sing to your children and to your grandchildren. Make sure they hear you singing in church. Teach your children and grandchildren to sing hymns, gospel songs, and choruses. Sing while you are in the shower. Sing while you ride your bike. Sing while you listen to the radio. Sing while you work out. Go ahead. Drive the devil nuts. He hates the music God loves. So sing out and make the devil mad.
There's a reason why sin is called forbidden fruit. At first glance, it looks delicious. That's why Eve ate the fruit in the first place. She even gave it to Adam, who should have known better, but he didn't, so he ate it too. That's why we're so messed up today. When will we ever learn?
Before you complain, count your blessings. Before you give up, pray. Before you speak, listen. Before you decide, seek godly counsel. Before you get angry, forgive. Before you worry, worship.
Better to run away from temptation than to wish you had.
Father, when we are tempted to despair, grant us eyes of faith to see beyond our problems to the everlasting promises of God. Amen.
God’s mercy is not like the weather. It does not change with the seasons.
Bind my wandering heart to Thee.
Do not say you want Christ but not the Bible. The Bible reveals Christ to us. As Luther said, the Bible is the cradle where Christ is laid.
Christianity is not about man climbing up to God but God coming down to man. If God doesn't come down to us, we will never go up to him.
Repentance isn't just asking for forgiveness. You haven't repented until you admit you were wrong in the first place.
Let your hope in God be greater than your fear of the future.
Thank God for men of faith who are not ashamed to stand up for Jesus. Thank God for fathers and grandfathers who set a godly example. Thank God for husbands who love and lead like Jesus. Happy Father’s Day!
