Good Words for Today
Lord Jesus, raise me above the smiles and frowns of this world so that my only concern will be your approval. Amen.
Lord Jesus, make me as generous to others as you have been to me. Amen.
”Thou art the Potter, I am the clay.“
It’s perfectly all right to ask God “Why?” Just remember he isn’t required to give you an answer.
"If you, Lord, kept a record of sins, Lord, who could stand?" (Psalm 130:3). We can never fix ourselves because we lack the inner resources to solve our own problems. That flies in the face of a host of self-help gurus who say the answer is within us. The Bible says the opposite is true. The problem is within us. The answer lies outside of us.
“Treat people the same way you want them to treat you” (Matthew 7:12). We like to say, “You go first, and I’ll treat you the way you treat me.” Jesus said, “Don’t wait for the other person. You make the first move.” When in doubt, be kind, and let God take care of the results.

The only people who think forgiveness is easy are those who never tried to do it. To forgive a deep hurt will cost you greatly. The only consolation is, unforgiveness costs far more.
What gives us the confidence to face death with our heads held high? How can we cross the Jordan to reach the other side? We can because "his love endures forever." That's our hope. We die, but his love endures forever. We fail, but his love endures forever. We stumble and fall, but his love endures forever. We know it because God has said it, Jesus has promised it, and "his love endures forever."

"Even a fool is thought wise if he keeps silent, and discerning if he holds his tongue" (Proverbs 17:28).. The Bible is clear on this point. The more we speak, the less truth we tell. Speak less, and your words will mean more.
Only one life, ‘twill soon be past, Only what’s done for Christ will last.
All of us are works-in-progress. We’re not finished, not glorified, not perfected, not completed. We’re all “under construction.” As someone said, construction is long, loud, noisy, and very messy. That’s why most of us can hear the sound of hammering and sawing on the inside. God never stops his work because there is so much work that needs to be done.
Judas heard all of Christ’s sermons. He saw all the miracles. He kept the money for the apostles. And yet he betrayed Jesus. Lord Jesus, deliver us from the Judas spirit and replace it with true love for you. Amen.
Lord Jesus, thank you for showing us how to live. May your love replace any anger in my heart. Amen.
"Your word, O Lord, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens" (Psalm 119:89). O Lord, may I never doubt Your Word, but simply believe it, obey it, and build my life upon it. Amen.
"I have seen these people,” the Lord said to Moses, “and they are a stiff-necked people” (Exodus 32:9). That’s not a compliment. Pride keeps us from hearing what God is saying. Pride makes our necks stiff. O Lord, break down the stiff-necked spirit within us. Break us, soften us, cleanse us, renew us. Make us ready to hear your Word. Amen.

Almighty God, let my work be my worship today because I am doing it for you. Amen.
For the child of God, there are no accidents, only incidents. Things often happen that we didn't expect, but they cannot happen by accident. Nothing that happens to the child of God is outside of the “all things” of Romans 8:28.
You can be mistaken on some secondary issues and still be a Christian, but being wrong about Jesus is deadly. Our faith in Jesus must be more than just an emotional experience of “having Jesus in my heart. “ Our faith must rest on the revealed truth about Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord.
We are debtors to the whole world. It won’t be enough in the Last Day to say, “But, Lord, I took care of my family. I told them about you. See, we’re all here.” The Lord will reply, “My child, what did you do for your friends and neighbors? What about that man who came to your door? What about your sister, your daddy, your boss, your pals at work? Did you even try to tell them about me?”
“God often confirms his will after we obey, not before.” Mark Bailey
When you ask God for a blessing, he sends a problem because your blessings usually come through the problems you face.
Almighty God, increase my faith so that I might believe without wavering that you are greater than all my problems. Amen.
Often we are too quick to pass judgment on others. If we callously say, “She got what was coming to her,” we only reveal how little we understand about God’s heart. He is rich in grace, and his pockets are deep and full of mercy.
Let’s face it. Christians are narrow-minded about God’s truth. We believe something the chattering classes find incredible. We believe God has spoken in his Word, and his Word is to be obeyed. The world says, “We want freedom.” Jesus said, "The truth will set you free."
We excuse impatience when we ought to confess it. How many sins have we committed because we were in a hurry? Give God time to work. He knows what he is doing even when we don’t have a clue.
Be of good cheer. Even death itself is in God’s hands. If you are a Christian, you cannot die before God’s appointed time. A Christian is immortal until his work on earth is done.
Lord Jesus, let your light shine in us and fill this dark world with your glory. Amen.
God has spoken—and he did not stutter. “Thou shalt not” still means “Thou shalt not."
We have fellowship with God through his Son, Jesus Christ. And only in Christ do we have fellowship with one another. What sets us apart from the country club is that we have fellowship with God. The church is a fellowship of men and women who have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Jesus will return when everything is ready in God’s plan. Not a moment earlier, not a second later.
To call God our father means that we can trust him in every circumstance because he will do whatever needs to be done to take care of us.
Death is like a dark room that frightens us because we don’t know what’s in there. But the Bible tells us that Jesus has gone into every dark room ahead of us and tells us, “Come on in. I am here, and it is safe.”
Easter does not simply mean that 2000 years ago a man rose from the dead. This is true enough, but it is not the end of the story. Because he lives today, we live today. When he came out of the tomb, we walked out with him. Death will not have the last word. He is risen! He is risen indeed!
While the Jews try to keep Jesus in the tomb, a miracle is on the way. Pilate is about to receive the shock of his life. On Saturday, everything seemed hopeless. On Sunday morning, the whole world changed. Hang on a little longer. It’s Saturday, but Sunday’s coming.
“Yet it was the Lord’s will to crush him and cause him to suffer” (Isaiah 53:10). Jesus died because his Father willed that he should die. The terrible suffering our Lord endured did not happen by chance nor did it happen solely because the Jewish leaders wanted it and Pilate cravenly caved in. Behind the evil deeds of evil men stands the Lord God Almighty. He and he alone sent Jesus to the cross. Until you understand that fact, the true meaning of the death of Christ will be lost to you.
Jesus never says, “Clean yourself up, and I will come in.” No, the invitation is always, “Believe in me, and I will give you a brand-new life.” The gospel gives you something much better than what it drives away.
When we come to Christ, he comes to us. When we trust in Christ, he dwells with us. When we say yes to Jesus, he makes our heart his home.
