Glad to Be Home Again

March 14, 2008

We are home again after a whirlwind trip to New York where we had a wonderful time with the students at Word of Life Bible Institute. It’s always fun to teach there, but this year’s class seemed unusually attentive and extremely receptive. The Lord seemed to create a good connection. Part of it may stem from the fact that I lost my teaching notes from last year–the same ones I’ve used for at least five years. When we moved last June, the notes somehow disappeared. They may be buried in a box in the lodge on the other side of the lake, but if they are, I couldn’t find them last week. So I ended up working hard to reconstruct my lectures, which probably made them fresher in my own mind. And I loved being with the students. To me teaching young people the Word is not a burden. It’s an investment in the next generation of Kingdom leaders.

On a personal note, thanks to everyone who has prayed for Vanessa (including our friends in China who wrote and asked about her) after her automobile accident last Friday. Although she is still very sore and moving slowly, the healing process is definitely underway. The doctors says she should be feeling much stronger in a couple of months. The insurance company said exactly what we expected–that the car was a total loss, which reminds us again that cars can be replaced, people cannot. We’re especially happy that Maria, Vannesa’s mother, flew in from California to be with her this weekend. We haven’t seen her since the wedding last July, and we celebrated tonight by going out for some excellent barbecue.
