News and notes from everywhere . . .
*I have set out to use the new edition of Operation World in my prayer times this year. I highly recommend the book for anyone who wants the most up-to-the minute glimpse of what God is doing around the world.
*"Snow Expected in Region This Weekend.” That’s the Friday headline in the Tupelo paper. They say maybe 5-8 inches in some places. That seems impossible for north Mississippi, but last night at the men’s Bible study we talked about stocking up before the storm hits.
*Which reminds me I need to get some dog food for Gary and Dudley.
*Now that I have a Kindle, I’ve discovered that I prefer an e-reader to print-and-ink books. The only thing I don’t like about my Kindle DX is that it doesn’t have touchscreen technology. Maybe in the next model . . .
*Speaking of which, I have yet to meet anyone with an iPad who doesn’t love it. Not like, love it. I plan to buy the next-generation iPad when it comes out in a few months.
*We had a great December in terms of web traffic at the KBM website, up almost 50% from a year ago (75,000 visits in 2010 vs. 50,000 in 2009). We see a big spike in traffic whenever we feature our Christmas and New Year’s sermons. Glad to be of service to pastors everywhere.
*For what it’s worth, I agree with Al Mohler about the importance of the historical truthfulness of Genesis 1-11. If we can’t trust the first part of the Bible, how can we be sure about anything else it says?
*My football picks: Indianapolis, Baltimore, New Orleans, Green Bay, Auburn. Less sure about that last one.
*Nice note that arrived a few days ago: “I often surf the web for people with sermons which are real (there is so much rubbish out there). Your sermons have always inspired me as because they are also very practical and understandable. I don`t know if you have much feedback from other Pastors and the like, but I would like you to know how much i appreciate you taking the time to make public your sermons. Pastor Jeff (South Wales UK)”
*Glad to hear from Wales because Pritchard is a Welsh name. If you climb up the limbs in my family tree, I think I’ve got Welsh ancestors from a couple of centuries ago. Need to visit the “home country” someday.
*The people who say you can’t understand what grandchildren are like until you have one are right.
*You don’t have to like someone in order to pray for them. Liking them has nothing to do with it. Just pray and let God sort out the rest.
*I like Luther’s advice for overcoming despondency. As always, Luther is down-to-earth practical.

*A few months ago I attended a presentation by a young man named T. Mac Howard. He has moved to Greenwood, Mississippi to start a new ministry called Delta Streets. When people talk about “incarnational ministry,” this is what they mean.
