For All the Saints

post date: November 1, 2008

Here is a video of one of my favorite hymns, “For All the Saints.” It comes from a worship service at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church in Arlington, Virginia. This video touches my heart because it’s a real church service, not a concert performance. I love the soaring melody that goes with this triumphant hymn. When I hear it sung (which, sad to say, isn’t very often), I want to stand and cheer. As the years roll on, and more and more of my friends are in heaven, this hymn means more and more to me. I am happy, so happy, on this All Saints Day that death will not have the final word. A better day is coming for the people of God.

In the book of Proverbs, King Solomon left us a treasure trove of practical principles for daily living. The ardent pursuit of wisdom is every Chistian’s calling! Wisdom “is a tree of life to those who embrace her. Those who lay hold of her will be blessed.” (Proverbs 3:18)

“Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
