Executed

October 13, 2006

Yesterday I asked you to pray for a brother on an Asian island who was facing eternity for his Christian beliefs. I just received word that he was executed by firing squad a few hours ago. Here is one Christian’s reaction:

My brother met eternity earlier today. His thirst for righteousness was filled. He was maltreated to the full for his righteousness. He could rejoice in his last hours knowing he knew his reward was coming soon.
This man knows no death. My brother just began his life.
I was saddened and then at peace. I know that the Father of all things orchestrates all things for His Glory.
May that be the case today. May my brothers death be cause for rejoicing and praise.
Today, my brother met his Creator. Today he heard His Almighty, All-Powerful, All-Knowing Creator say to him “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
Today, may our faith be as bold as our brother’s faith. May our thirst for righteousness be filled. May we become worthy to be maltreated.
He has fought the good fight, he has finished the race, he has kept the faith. Now there is in store for him the crown of righteousness, which the Father, the righteous Judge, will award to him on that day—and not only to him, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.
Kneel in honor and praise to the Father.
Kneel to give Him the glory.
Kneel to Him in joy.

“And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, ’Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God. And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death’” (Revelation 12:10-11).
