Christmas Sausage Balls

December 12, 2011

In preparation for tonight’s KBM home meeting in Tupelo, Marlene made one of my favorite Christmas treats, Christmas sausage balls. This is the sort of appetizer that works well for almost any occasion. Marlene started making these early in our marriage, and as the boys came along, sausage balls became part of our Christmas family tradition.

Here’s the recipe:

2 cups Bisquick
2 cups shredded sharp cheese
1 lb hot breakfast sausage.

Mix all ingredients thoroughly and roll into balls 1 inch in diameter. Bake at 350 for about 10 minutes or until the balls begin to brown.

Now that’s simple enough that I think I could bake that. Not that I would try. My culinary gifts lie mostly in the realm of enjoying what my sweet wife prepares. Having sampled these sausage balls many times over the years, I can recommend this recipe with complete confidence.
