Another brother was added to the ranks tonight … A guy we’ve met with for two or three times was the only one to come, and we were going to give the bridge the gap speech to everyone to ensure that no matter what happened, that we would’ve given them everything we could’ve. Well, this guy came and we had a buddy basically present it out over 1.5 hours and the guy made the decision right there. It was awesome to be a part of that.

3:36 PM Harvest House has donated another 500 copies of Why Did This Happen to Me? to be used in Hurricane Katrina relief efforts. The first 500 copies have already been given out along the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The books are free to those using them to minister in the regions damaged by Katrina. 7:24 AM John Piper has recently been diagnosed with prostate cancer. Here is his announcement letter to his congregation. This is part of what he wrote:

This news has, of course, been good for me. The most dangerous thing in the world is the sin of self-reliance and the stupor of worldliness. The news of cancer has a wonderfully blasting effect on both. I thank God for that. The times with Christ in these days have been unusually sweet.

The entire letter shows how a godly man responds to adversity with faith and joy in the Lord.
