A Pop Quiz—Seven Quick Questions

October 14, 2008

This morning I’ve been reading a pre-publication copy of Significant Living by Jerry and Shirley Rose. Subtitled “A Road Map for the Rest of Your Life,” it’s aimed at older Baby Boomers—people over 55, which happens to precisely my demographic. The book is fun to read because it switches back and forth as an ongoing conversation between Jerry and Shirley over topics such as attitude, action, connection, humor, and leaving a godly legacy.

As I was zipping through the manuscript, I found a “Pop Quiz for Second Halfers.” Here are seven questions worth asking no matter where you are along life’s journey.

1) Am I an affirmer rather than a critic?

2) Am I content rather than a complainer?

3) Am I patient rather than impatient?

4) Am I a life-giver rather than a taker?

5) Am I an enlarger rather than a diminisher?

6) Am I a forgiver rather than a grievance-keeper?

7) Am I peaceful rather than anxious?

Those are all good questions, but I especially liked #s 4-5.
