A Good Week in Florida

March 2, 2006

Our week at Word of Life Florida is quickly drawing to a close. Today our dear friends Billy and Paula Speer gave a concert during the second hour this morning. I first met Billy and Paula when we ministered together in a Schroon Lake in 2000. Later we ministered together twice at Living Waters Bible Camp in Maine. Billy is a big man and Paula is very small so they make a striking appearance on stage. Plus Billy has an infectious laugh and a wonderful sense of humor that puts an audience at ease immediately. Today they sang a number of songs of comfort, including moving renditions of “Sheltered in the Arms of God” and “It Is Well With My Soul.”
We said goodbye to Tom and Fay Philips earlier today because they are heading over to Saddlebrook Resort for the President’s Forum that starts tonight.
All week long I’ve been preaching on spiritual warfare. Here are the messages so far:
Asymmetric Spiritual Warfare
Led by the Spirit into the Wilderness
When Life Tumbles In, What Then?
Snake Eyes
War in Heavenly Places
Do Not Grieve the Holy Spirit
What the Cross Meant to Satan
I also spoke to a men’s Bible study and to the students at the Bible Institute. Tomorrow I speak to the staff men and give my final message. Then it’s time to hit the road for Tupelo. We got the trunk latch fixed, by the way. Evidently we didn’t that $198. It’s been a good week in Florida, and I’ve managed to ride the Suncoast Trail four times (YTD miles: 343), but I will be glad to be back home tomorrow night.
