10:27 PM The Wednesday Journal carried a fine article (“Heaven’s Dress Rehearsal”) about Judson Baptist Church of Oak Park in today’s edition. Ken Trainor captured the energetic spirit of this multiracial congregation. Good picture of Pastor Art Jackson and another one of Bruce Fields preaching in their sanctuary. The article notes Judson’s mission statement: “We envision ourselves standing courageously at the intersection where race and class collide and daring to live out authentic Christian community.” Nice mention of Roy and Toni Horras and also of Dave Schlueter. An excellent article about an outstanding church. 10:22 PM Congratulations to Pastor Timothy Fung of the Chinese Bible Church of Oak Park who is retiring after serving the church for 35 years. Last Sunday the church celebrated his ministry with a dinner in his honor. Pastor Fung has been a good friend ever since I came to Calvary. I’ve always said that he was the dean of all Oak Park pastors and I’m happy to join many others in saluting him on his very effective ministry. May God grant Pastor and Mrs. Fung many more happy years to serve the Lord together. 11:11 AM On a completely different note, check out this week’s Carnival of Recipes. 10:09 AM This week’s Christian Carnival is now online. It includes something I wrote plus 46 other entries by Christian writers from across the Internet. 9:47 AM First Watch starts at 5:55 AM tomorrow morning. 9:44 AM Wednesday shout-out to Jim Parker, Sylvester Boyd, Linda De Carlo, Baird and Teresa Shattuck, Julie-Allyson Ieron, Kathy Jacobs, Kevin Facey, David Cook, Ed Sagan, Elissa Spann, George Bliss, Mike Black, Rachel Glancy, Pastor Steve Pedersen, Janice Kooken, Brett Blessen, Harlin and Kendra Neal, and to Joe Bella.
