September 20, 2005

1:07 PM Alas, another mountain of email arrived over the weekend and I am even farther behind. If you sent me a note, I will respond but it’s going to take a few more days. 1:06 PM Let’s go, White Sox! Time to beat those Indians. 1:06 PM Yes, I’m teaching the Pastor’s Bible Class tomorrow night in the Dining Room at 7 PM. 12:58 PM I’m writing this note from the pastor’s office at Galena Bible Church, in western Illinois, not far from the Mississippi River. Monday-Wednesday I’m speaking to pastors and missionaries at Triple Creek Ranch, a lovely conference center nestled amid the fields and wooded hills about 20 miles east of here. The ranch doesn’t have wireless Internet, but the pastor (who is attending the conference) offered me the use of his office so I could hook into the church’s wireless system. I always hoped or thought I would visit Galena someday and see the sights. This quick trip will have to do until someday in the future when Marlene and I can tour this quaint little town. P.S. What famous Civil War general lived in Galena? Hint: His face is on the $50 bill. Another hint: Lee surrendered to him at Appomattox.
