November 2, 2004

3:22 PM Only two more days until First Watch, the weekly men’s breakfast and Bible study. We start serving at 5:55 AM. My topic will be “The Battle for Leadership,” which seems most appropriate for this particular week. 6:15 AM I just voted. Mark and I both got up about 5:30 AM and went to the polling place—Good Shepherd Lutheran Church right behind our house. We got there about five minutes before six. Two people were already there. But when we got inside, he and I were the second and third people to actually cast their ballots. Since we voted the same way, I can say that our candidates were leading in our precinct when we left—which is probably the last lead they will have all day long. People were in a good mood this morning. The polling officials have a long day ahead of them. So if you are reading this and have not voted, for once I can say this with sincerity. Stop reading this blog! Go and vote. Then come back and read it. Voting is an American privilege and a Christian responsibility! Go and vote!
