2:44 PM Just ran across this profound bit of insight: “Before you criticize somebody, walk a mile in his shoes. That way you’ll be a mile away. Plus, you’ll have his shoes.” 8:00 AM Big news from the world of sports. John Mark Edwards and Nick Pritchard’s team won the Intramural Dodge Ball Championship at Samford University earlier this week. Their softball team plays for the intramural championship tonight. 7:33 AM This is the National Day of Prayer. This year’s theme is “God Shed His Grace on Thee.” Believers from many different Oak Park churches will be leading a community-wide prayer meeting at the Village Hall tonight at 7 PM. Max Lucado has written a prayer for today (Hat Tip to Brian Bill):

Dear God, Not to us, O Lord, but to You goes all the glory. We depend on you. You give birth and breath and determine our days. You make every nation and set every boundary. We exist by your power. We exist for your glory. Showcase your power through this land. Display your justice in our courts, wisdom in our governments, guidance in our schools and love in our homes. Have mercy upon our sins. We have disrespected Your word, disregarded your gifts, discarded your children. We are sorry. Forgive us, dear Father. Grant strength to all our leaders. May they serve you first and honor you most. Remind us of the brevity of this life and the beauty of the next. Prepare our souls for the day we meet You in eternity. This we pray in your holy name, Amen

7:25 AM A big Thursday shout-out to Scott Barger, Pastor Mickey Trammel in Golden, Mississippi, Rick Donald, Gordon and Daphne McRostie in Colorado, Paul and Christy Knudson, Alex and Debbie Pirus, MaryAnn Spiegel, Skip Olson, Andy McQuitty, Dennis Baker, Denise Logan, Dave Lee, Dave and Lynn Russell in Meridian, Mississippi, Eileen Hughes, Jeremiah Curry, Terry Puett and Anita Siecker.
