March 18, 2004

7:24 PM This request arrived a few hours ago:

I work with HeartBound Ministries in Atlanta, Georgia. We are a Christian outreach ministry that seeks to minister to inmates through their prison chaplains. We have been asked to do a concert and provide 1,200 Easter gift bags to inmates at Georgia State Prison in Reidsville. This is Georgia’s most “notorious” prison. Of the 1,200 inmates housed there, 85% are in permanent lock-down, meaning they spend 23 of a 24 hour day in their cells. The gift bags will include a bottle of shampoo, a bar of soap, a honey bun and, most importantly, the gospel. We are looking for material for the bags and someone suggested your book, “An Anchor for the Soul.” Do you donate copies of this book to prisons or prison ministries? The chaplain at that prison, Chaplain Valiant Lyte, is a man after God’s own heart and he wants to take that prison for Jesus! The date of the concert is April 9th, 2004 (Good Friday), so we’re in a bit of a rush. Thank you for your kind consideration. I would love to distribute copies of this book through our 37 prison libraries, if additional copies are available. God bless you and thank you for all you do.

Our Anchor team is all over this exciting request. We plan to ship the books in plenty of time for the Good Friday concert. It’s an honor to partner with prison ministries across America 8:19 AM Special Offer To: Weblog Readers From: Ray Pritchard Re: Free Copies of “Beyond All You Can Ask or Think” In just a few days Moody Publishers will release my newest book, “Beyond All You Could Ask or Think: How to Pray like the Apostle Paul.” In the book I survey six of Paul’s prayers from Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians and 2 Thessalonians. As I studied these prayers, I discovered that each one centers on a particular theme—discernment, growth, vision, power, endurance and encouragement. My own prayers became more focused as I began to pray like Paul. I’m hoping the same thing will happen for my readers. Here are the six chapter titles: Chapter 1 – Don’t Settle for Second Best Chapter 2 – How to Pray with Power Chapter 3 – Open My Eyes, Lord Chapter 4 – Beyond Your Dreams Chapter 5 – Hanging Tough for Jesus Chapter 6 – Strength for the Journey Moody Publishers has offered to send free copies to the first 250 people who request a copy. I will see that you get a copy if you will agree to do three things: 1) Read through the book when you receive it. 2) Consider how you could use it in your own ministry. 3) Consider how you could recommend it to others who might use it also. As you read this book, please think about others who might be able to use it in a Sunday School class, a prayer ministry, a singles group, a Bible class, a small group Bible study or a discipleship group. Do you have a friend going through a hard time who might benefit from reading it? Would you consider sending a copy to a friend in a position of influence—a ministry leader, a chaplain, a sports figure, a political leader, a broadcaster, someone who works in print media, a Christian counselor, a Christian doctor or lawyer, a bookstore owner, a college professor, a civic leader, a business executive, a key pastor? Today’s Christian marketplace is very crowded and nothing works as well as a personal recommendation from a friend. I need your help to get the word out about this brand-new book. To make things clear, we can only send out one free book per family. And you can’t sign up for other people—only for yourself. But if you are willing to help get the word out about “Beyond All You Can Ask or Think,” Moody Publishers will gladly send you a copy. In order to take advantage of this offer, please send an e-mail to raypritchard@calvarymemorial.com with your name and current mailing address. That’s all I need. You should receive the book sometime in April. Once you’ve read it, I’m counting on you to think of ways we can get the word out to others. If you’d like more information about the book, click here. Remember, there are only 250 free copies available. Let me know soon if you’d like a copy. Thanks in advance for your help.
