5:55 PM Today’s entry in the Crosswalk weblog is called Easter, Iraq and the Sovereignty of God. Besides the two stories told in this entry, I met a man after the third service, a first-time visitor from Tennessee, who said, “I needed to hear what you said to that soldier on his way to Iraq. I have a son serving in Afghanistan who has been in combat recently. I know what you said is true, but I needed to hear it again.” I don’t doubt that God brought this man to our church for this one Sunday so that he could hear a message of hope and encouragement regarding his son serving on the other side of the world. Later I was talking it over with Johann Buis and we both agreed that there is no truth as comforting as the sovereignty of God. It is a solid rock on which we can rest all our fears. 7:41 AM “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen!” (Luke 24:5-6) Happy Easter! He is risen! He is risen indeed!
