10:33 PM Here are two recent entries in the Crosswalk weblog: Be a Link This Week I’m Taking Jesus With Me 10:03 PM Nick called from Samford tonight with some basketball news. About two months ago, Nick and John Mark Edwards challenged two other guys on campus to a basketball tournament. If they won, they would get to join the intramural team the other guys play on. If not, Nick and John Mark would have to let them use their Play Station for the rest of the semester. (John Mark didn’t know about that part of the deal.) Well, the other two guys were pretty good and beat them two straight—and took them to school in the process. Those two guys challenged Nick and John Mark to a rematch on Friday night—loser takes the winner out for supper. Nick and John Mark beat them handily two out of three games. So they were treated to a gourmet meal at Olive Garden. 10:00 PM Ted Engel asked me why I haven’t mentioned David Cutcliffe, the former head football coach at Ole Miss, who was fired a few days ago. Well, I didn’t say anything because this is a bit of a division among my boys about whether or not this was a good thing. But it’s done and over, and so now we’re hoping for Ron Zook or Bobby Petrino. Or maybe some hot young assistant coach. 9:57 PM Steve Boisse read my comments about peppered salami and told me I need to Dominick’s Deli and buy Primo Taglio peppered salami. He actually told me this in one of the services while we were waiting to walk in and serve communion. I saw him later and he wrote it down on a piece of paper so I wouldn’t forget it. He said you cut the salami and fold it over when you make a sandwich so the pepper goes all through the salami. Sounds good to me. I’m going to buy some tomorrow and check it out.
