5:27 PM Here’s the Legacy Campaign prayer request for today: “Praise God that nothing is impossible with him (Luke 1:37).”

Yesterday AM I met with a group of leaders for The Legacy Campaign. We toured the building, discussed the project in depth, and then gave the leaders a chance to make advance commitments to the campaign. We’ll announce the total of advance commitments in early September. It looks like we’ll need to raise $1.6 million to completely pay for the renovation project. We’ll be asking every family in the church to make a commitment to The Legacy Campaign on Sunday, September 28, to be given in full by Thanksgiving 2005.

Went for a 36-mile bike ride earlier today—north on Austin, past the Kennedy Expressway, to the North Branch Trail. On the trail I passed several large groups gathered for picnics. I heard someone speaking Spanish at one site, and what I think was Polish at another site further up the trail. The latter gathering drew several thousand people for some sort of enormous outdoor celebration complete with booths, a stage, musical acts, and lots of food.

Total miles ridden so far this year: 2336.

Ebook: ABC’s of Wisdom

In the book of Proverbs, King Solomon left us a treasure trove of practical principles for daily living. The ardent pursuit of wisdom is every Chistian’s calling! Wisdom “is a tree of life to those who embrace her. Those who lay hold of her will be blessed.” (Proverbs 3:18)

“Equipping and encouraging people to keep believing in Jesus”

“Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
