10:04 PM Today’s entry in the Crosswalk weblog is called 31 Ways to Pray for Personal Change. 9:30 AM Something happened this morning that has never happened before in the 26 years I’ve been a pastor. At the end of the 10 AM service, we had a ministry time where we invited people in the congregation to come forward for prayer. A father and mother and son came forward with tears, asking me to pray for their walk with the Lord. So I put my arms around them and we made a little huddle in front of the church while I prayed for them. Meanwhile the congregation is singing and others are coming forward. After I finished the prayer, the father handed me a plastic shopping bag. Inside was a large box filled with chocolate Moon Pies. They said they wanted me to have it so I thanked them and put it behind one of the TV monitors in front of the platform. I thought I’d seen everything, but coming forward during the invitation to give the pastor Moon Pies was new to me. 9:25 PM Congratulations to the Calvary softball team. Their season ended on a positive note this afternoon when they defeated St. Giles 18-14, after coming back from an 8-1 deficit. In the second game they faced off against league powerhouse New Life Church. Earlier in the afternoon, New Life demolished another church team 31-1. The Calvary guys put up a much better fight before losing to New Life 15-9. We did very well considering we didn’t even field a team until we took Vineyard’s spot halfway through the season.
