April 25, 2004

9:49 PM So many good things happened in church today it’s hard to name them all. Our Upper Room Service in the renovated gym continues to draw capacity crowds. Today our high school students led the worship and did a wonderful job. At the 10 AM service we baptized three high school students in the sanctuary. We decided to simulcast the baptism into the Upper Room. This was a bit of an experiment but the technology worked just fine. And those in the Upper Room actually got a better view of the baptism than the folks in the sanctuary. At the 11:30 AM service, we baptized four more people, including one man who said that he first came to Calvary when we were riding the “Bible Bus” together. He started reading the Bible, understood the gospel for the first time, and trusted Christ as Savior. The congregation cheered when he said that after coming to Christ, the Lord delivered him from 23 years of alcoholism. Tomorrow afternoon I head for upstate New York where I will be teaching Galatians at the Word of Life Bible Institute. Starting on Tuesday, I’ll be teaching over 500 students several hours each day. This is my fourth year to teach at the BI, and I always enjoy being there because the students listen so intently. I finish on Friday but I’m staying over the weekend to speak at a Men’s Conference at Word of Life Inn. God willing, I’ll be back home next Sunday night.
