November 22, 2003

8:47 PM The World Magazine weblog continues its discussion of how best to express opposition to gay marriage. 8:42 PM Okay, so it was the most important game in maybe 50 years. Which means I’ll be 101 the next time Ole Miss plays a game this important. 7:22 PM On the brighter side of life, got an unexpected email from a pastor in Houston. Each week I send my sermon out via email to 1552 people across America and around the world. This pastor is on the list, although I do not know him personally. He wrote me yesterday about my sermon “Jesus Christ and Him Crucified.” This is part of his message:

Thank you sooo much Pastor Ray for this message.I made copies of this sermon and I passed them out at our City-wide Pastor’s conference that meets every monday morning. At this conference there are about 100 to 150 African American preachers and pastor’s who gather each monday morning. The name of our conference is The Houston Metropolitan Ministers Conference. I was so blessed by this message (as I am by each message you send me). I am a 33 year old African American pastor who is finishing my first full year at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Houston, Texas. This sermon really re-afirmed my faith in the total sufficiency of Jesus Christ in ministry. Thank you very much for allowing the Lord to use you in such a mighty way.

This is a perfect example of how the Internet makes it possible to multiply your impact to reach people in distant places. This young pastor sent along his phone numbers and I look forward to getting to know him and encouraging him in his work. 7:21 PM Only 5 more days till the Pastor’s Stroll. 7:20 PM Message from Nick on the answering machine: “I wish we had a kicker. Bye.”
