July 24, 2004

8:18 PM Today’s entry in the Crosswalk weblog is called Clearing Off My Desk. 6:00 PM We arrived home about 8 PM last night, totally exhausted. I preached 24 times in the last two weeks and together Marlene and I spent more time than ever ministering and praying with people at Maranatha and Word of Life. Before we went, we asked the Lord to enable us to minister to people on an individual basis, and God certainly answered that prayer. We also prayed for the Lord to minister to us through the people we met—and that prayer was answered also. The Lord spoke to us in many ways about many things—nothing huge, but many little “God sightings” here and there, insights that came as a result of comments made to us along the way. We spent some time today debriefing about what we had learned in these past two weeks. We can see God’s hand at work in many ways—and we want to remain open to his leading now that we are back home again. It’s easy for all of us to fall into the trap of thinking that we need to go someplace special to hear God’s voice. But you don’t have to go up on a mountain to listen to the Lord. It’s a matter of the heart, not geography. While we all need breaks in the routine of life in order to think more clearly, God can speak to any of us anytime, anywhere. I like to tell people, “God has your number. He can ring your phone any time he likes.”
