5:48 AM This morning we begin our journey to Maine. We will cross Lake Champlain, drive to Burlington, Vermont, then head east on Route 2 into New Hampshire, we’ll pass through the White Mountains, ending up in Bangor late this afternoon. Tomorrow we’ll drive on Danforth and Living Waters Bible Camp. We’ve never spent any time in Vermont and none at all in northern New Hampshire so we’re looking forward to the trip.

5:43 AM Our week at Word of Life has come to an end. Two local connections: Last night a woman told me she had graduated from the West Sub Nursing School back in the 50s when it was affiliated with Wheaton College. Then I met a very elderly former pastor who told me that when he was a young man, he worked on the Aurora-Elgin train line and used to call out the stops, which included Oak Park. Many wonderful comments from people as we wrapped up the final service last night. Afterwards we went to the home of George and Joan Theis for ice cream. Exciting to hear about God’s work through Word of Life in Brazil. George is a good friend of Pele, the world-famous soccer player from Brazil. His wife came to Christ through their ministry some years ago, and the friendship endures to this day.

Here’s the Legacy Campaign prayer request for today: “Pray for spiritual curiosity in the community as the project takes shape.”
