12:29 PM The online version of “The Truth About Same-Sex Marriage,” my sermon from last Sunday, has just been posted on the website. Click here to read it. 10:24 AM My brother Andy sent me an email with the title “News Flash: Cubs and Red Sox Blow Postseason Chances!!” Then he added: “What’s new about that?” He has a point. But if the Cubs can sweep the Braves, and if the Giants lose two, and if the Astros lose two, or if the Cubs win two and the others lose two, there would be a one-game playoff, or if the Cubs lose two and the others lose three, or if Harry Caray comes back to sing “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” on Sunday, well then, you never know what might happen. 10:18 AM Friday morning shout-out to Pat Winter in Southfield, MI, Audrey Kelly, Pastor Rondall Johnson, and Tiffani Boerio in Nairobi, Kenya, and a get-well wish to Roy Horras who had a bike accident not long ago. 8:16 AM Here are two new entries in the Crosswalk weblog: Spain Caves in on Gay Marriage Should We Allow Sinners to Come to Church? 7:18 AM Good luck to the Oak Park-River Forest Huskies as they travel to Downers Grove North tonight to take on the Trojans. 7:15 AM 170 different men have attended First Watch in the first two weeks. 7:15 AM I heard from many people that Stephen Bennett did a super job on WLS radio Wednesday morning. 7:13 AM Speaking of rising tensions, what’s happened to the Cubbies? 7:09 AM The Rapture Index has risen to 154. This is still considerably below the all-time high of 182 shortly after the 9/11 attacks. But 154 is the highest number this year. I mention this simply because I have the general feeling that tensions are rising in many places, and we seem to be living in increasingly dangerous times.
